The Simplified Spelling
Society

An association founded in Britain in 1908 with the aim of bringing
about “a reform of the spelling of English in the interest of
ease of learning and economy of writing.” Website has mission,
constitution, articles, news, journals, bulletins and a membership
application.
The American Literacy Council

First organized by Melvil Dewey in 1876, the American
Literacy Council is that institution, still dedicated to research
and dissemination of strategies for the improvement of literacy in
English-speaking countries. Much of the website is under construction.
